Configure the Guest VSC

The Guest VSC will be used to control both wired and wireless traffic,
enforcing Web-Auth and egressing traffic out toward the Internet.

1. In the network tree, expand Controller and click VSCs. The VSCs >> Overview
> VSC profiles window is displayed.

2. Click Add New VSC Profile.

3. For Profile name, type a meaningful name. For this example, type Guests.
This name simply identifies the VSC. It does not affect the settings in any
way.

4. Leave the Authentication and Access control check boxes selected.

5. Under VSC ingress mapping, select the VLAN check box. Then select the
VLAN that you created for traffic from unauthenticated wired guests. For
this example, select Unauthenticated (1).

6. Under Virtual AP and WLAN, for Name (SSID), type the wireless network
name that you want users to see. 

7. By default, the HTML-based user logins check box is selected as is the Local
check box below. Leave these settings as they are.

8. Expand Client data tunnel. Select Always tunnel client traffic.

9. If you want to prioritize voice or video traffic or to set guest traffic at a lower priority, follow these steps:

a. Expand Quality of service.

b. For Priority mechanism, select IP QoS.

c. The profiles that you configured are displayed in the IP QoS profiles

list. You can select the voice, video, and guest Web profile by pressing

[Ctrl] as you click each profile.

10. Under VSC egress mapping, for Authenticated, select the VLAN created for

guest traffic. For this example, select VLAN > Guests (99).

11. Leave the Wireless security filters check box selected.

 12. Select the DHCP server check box, and configure the following settings:

a. For DNS, type the MSM Controller’s IP address on the ingress guest

VLAN. The controller will capture DNS queries and forward them to

the DNS servers configured on the Controller > Network > DNS window.

In this example, type 10.1.50.1.

b. For Start, type the first address in the range of IP addresses that the

controller assigns to guests. For this example, type 10.1.50.10.

c. For End, type the last address in the range of IP addresses that the

controller assigns. For this example, type 10.1.50.254.

d. For Gateway, type the same IP address that you typed for DNS. The

controller will automatically use this IP address to route guests’

traffic. For this example, type 10.1.50.1.

e. For Netmask, type the subnet’s mask. In this example, type

255.255.255.0.

f. For Subnet, type the subnet address. In this example, type 10.1.50.0.
